The Public Kitchen and Bar

I tried the Public Kitchen and Bar last night. This is the new restaurant by the same people who gave us Local 11 Ten one of my favorite restaurants. Public is located at 1 W. Liberty Street, very close to the inn. This could quickly become one of my favorite places to go and just hang out.

The decor has sort of an industrial modern feel to it. I loved the light fixture over the bar. There seemed to be a good mix of people both local and tourists but felt like your favorite corner bar. Just a nice place to have a cocktail or glass of wine and bite to eat without having to worry about reservations or it being to stuffy. They have a nice simple menu that offers enough without being too much. I hate when you get a menu that reads like a book, don't you?

I was not particularly hungry so I settled on a nice glass of Pinot Grigio and a cheese board. It was wonderful, especially since they use Flat Creek Lodge cheese. My friend Gayle got the Bruschetta. I did not try hers but she said it was good and there was nothing left on her plate which I took to be a good sign.

I definitely will be going back to try a full meal. Make some plans for a weekend getaway to the Zeigler House Inn and walk around the corner and check out The Public.
