This past Saturday the 23rd, was our monthly wine tasting. Wow, what a treat. These just keep getting better. This time the focus was on reds. Our theme, "Take me to bed reds". You can draw your own conclusions about the title. We had our largest group yet with 14 people. From the sounds of the conversation both during and after, everyone had a great time.
Lori Mohr was our wine purveyor for the evening and she did a fabulous job presenting the wines. We started the evening off with Molnar Family Poseidon's Pinot Noir from California. It was paired with BBQ salmon prepared with two different sauces, one sweet, one savory, served over a bed of baby greens. The next offering was LaCartuja Priorat from Spain served with a creamy white bean and chorizo soup. Next we were enticed with a lovely Schild Estate Barossa Shirza from Australia. This was paired with another Australian favorite lamb, prepared with a fig chipotle sauce served over sweet potato mash. The next wine was from Washington State, the Velvet Devil Merlot. It was paired with an Italian sausage and mozzarella pizza. We took a bit of a break here and cleansed our palates with a little bubbly and toasted the newlyweds from our inn Paul and Debra. Congratulations! We finished the evening with a sweet Italian I Quaranta Le Rose Brachetto d'Acqui served with a wonderful Framboise mousse drizzled with apricot sauce and fresh raspberries. A sweet end to a perfect evening!
